Overview:
Every store within the Spar franchise has the flexibility to adjust prices, hold special offers and promote the products of their choosing. Spar had the problem of needing a way to allow their stores this flexibility while also keeping tight control over the overall Spar brand - especially in the printed promotional material. The Spar Instore Printing site allows a store franchisee to create all the printed material they need for their own promotions and offers while sticking to the Spar branding through the use of templates. The franchisee picks the template they wish to use and fills out the fields however they want and the site generates a PDF that can then be printed in-store either on plain A4 paper or on pre-printed colour paper with the Spar colours. The templates make sure the font size, font style and layout of all the printed material is consistent with the Spar branding.
The templating system makes use of Drag&Drop's Spyder templating software via a custom framework that abstracts the complexities of the Spyder software's XML interface. This framework has allowed us to deploy similar solution to the Instore Printing site for a number of other clients very quickly and cleanly.
